Academic Advising

The Academic Planning Form helps determine the connection between ISU degree requirements and study abroad coursework.

  • Students should meet with their Academic Advisor to discuss possible major, minor, or general education credit considerations while abroad prior to the study abroad application deadlines.
  • Students should have visited the host institution's website to determine which courses will be offered during their term abroad, prior to your meeting
  • Advisors complete the 'Requirement Fulfilled' and/or 'Comments' section and initial each course for approval (see example below).
  • Pre-articulated courses for each university can be found on the Course Equivalencies page. If students wish to take a course not already pre-articulated, he/she must supply a course description or syllabus for the corresponding department's approval. From there, the department can decide how the credit should articulate. Newly articulated courses will be added to the next semester's equivalency sheet.
  • The courses approved on the student's Academic Planning Form should be incorporated into the student's ISU academic plan of study and used to plan for subsequent semesters.
