Whether you're traveling with a study abroad program as a faculty leader, visiting a potential partner or program location, or are conducting research, there are several things to keep in mind when you think about traveling.
New applications take approximately 4-6 weeks to process, though expedited processing is available for an extra fee.
Please see the Faculty Director Handbook for guidelines on accompanying family members.
Please check with your insurance provider to verify coverage. Visit the ISU Risk Management website for insurance coverage for faculty/staff traveling for employment purposes.
Some countries may require a visa or entry permit to enter, regardless of your length of stay. While applying for a visa is the responsibility of the faculty member, OISP can provide guidance.
Keep your receipts and keep documentation of your expenses.
Visit with the Study Abroad Coordinator for additional options.
Just as you will leave your itinerary and contact details with loved ones, it is recommended to also register your travel with the university and the US Department of State. Register with the US State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
Complete the ISU Office of Risk Management's International Travel Notification Form.
