Repeat Participation
Illinois State students are permitted to study abroad more than once. However, students may not exceed more than 39 total hours at a foreign institution abroad.
Programs affected by this requirement include those which a transcript from the host university is granted. Some Faculty-Led programs do not fall under this requirement. Please ask your Study Abroad Advisor if your are unsure about your program.
Students who feel they have a compelling reason to exceed 39 hours are welcome to submit an appeal.
Students interested in submitting an appeal must send an email outlining the following information
- Student name and UID number
- Previous study abroad participation
- Location
- Duration
- Total number of credits earned for each program
- Proposed future study abroad destination
- Reason for desired participation
